New quad-quad sun boxes...
This is pretty impressive to me. Sun has released a four socket, four core, 32 DIMM slot server. Nothing super earth shattering there, until you read the environmental specs. It's crammed into 2U of rack space... And it has eight... count them, eight 2.5" SAS/SATA drive bays. WOW. My mind is a flutter thinking of a rack full of these with SAN connections running VMware ESX. A Super computer could be built pretty easily out of these as well since you'd need so much less room. Heat would be the same however so maybe the density works against it in that regards. I'll be curious to see what pricing is going to be on a fully loaded 4x4 with 128Gb of ram and 8-146Gb 10,000RPM drives... Pretty pricey I'd bet.
